Meet Nick Yardley, CEO of Julbo U.S.A.!  Nick shares with us a little bit more about Julbo, one of the best infant and children’s sunglass collections in the world!

Q. When was Julbo founded?

A: Founded in 1850 in the Jura Alps of France.

Q: Julbo was designed with who in mind?

A: Originally Julbo made glasses to protect stone smiths eyes, and then mountaineers (which we are most famous for). We have since diverged into Children and performance sunglasses with great success. The Looping Frame (young child) is our biggest single selling frame.

Q: What inspires the designers at Julbo?

The Mountains, the activities that occur in the mountains, and family life in the mountains. Some of our designers are young parents and designing glasses for their kid’s to use at the beach, on bikes, or hiking in the mountains is important to them.

Q: Your frames for infants and children are so flexible and lightweight – what’s the secret?

A: It’s a secrect so I can’t tell you! No, just kidding. The Looping family of kid’s sunglasses are our most successful product. They came about by one of our young designers giving his toddler a pair of regular sunglasses and seeing what he did with them. He put them on up side down, pulled on the temples and generally misused them. Our designer went back to the drawing board and developed the Looping.

Q: What’s the single most important thing you would like parents to know about the Junior collection?

A: We use optical class 1 lenses in all our kid’s glasses – exactly the same as our adult glasses for maximum protection and zero distortion. All our frames are also specifically designed of rht wage range of child in question, no sized-down adult glasses.

Q: Fill in the sentence :: I wear the Trek while I ,Run, Drive, Climb and Fish.

Q: What do you enjoy most about your job?

A: I am working with a company and a brand which I truly believe in and that positively improves others enjoyment of the outdoors.

Q: What are three things you can’t live without?

A: Kids, running shoes, and a fly rod.
